George Marston Fitzpatrick, Jr., 85, of Fort Collins passed away August 27, 2018. George was born on February 13, 1933 in Minot, North Dakota to George M. Fitzpatrick, Sr. and Ellen (Stone) Fitzpatrick of Stanley, ND. He attended school and graduated from Stanley High School in 1951. He attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D., where he studied Business. After two years at UND he transferred to General Motors Institute in Flint, MI where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1955.
George was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and served two years in Fort Smith, AR, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1958. In 1956 George married Michaela (Mickey) Marie White of Williston, North Dakota, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Williston, ND. After his Army service they returned to Stanley where he was the General Manager of 106 Service, Inc., a General Motors car dealership and Texaco gas station. While in Stanley, he was active in the Jaycees, church choir, the Mountrailsmen choral group, baseball, hunting, fishing and various other activities.
George and Mickey had two sons born in Stanley, Shawn M. and Brady F. Fitzpatrick. The family moved to Colorado in 1968 and have resided in Fort Collins since 1971.
George worked for himself, Target Stores and the Larimer County Sheriff's Department. At the Sheriff's Department, he managed the motor pool, evidence and supply. He worked for the Sheriff's Department for 10 years, retiring in 1996.
George had many friends and interests over the years, which included choral singing, playing baseball and softball and hunting and fishing. George and Mickey were married for 62 years. Survivors include his wife Michaela, sons Shawn and Brady, their wives and four grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Please remember George as a man who loved life and all it had to offer, and especially as one who enjoyed the many, many friendships. His sense of humor was deeply appreciated and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial Services will be at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, Friday, Sept. 7 at 3 pm.
