Genevieve J. "Jackie" Thurman, 90, passed on to Heaven, Friday May 4, 2018, at Centre Avenue Rehab & Health Center, following a short illness, with her family by her side.
Jackie was born on August 5, 1927 in Loveland, Colorado to Frank & Ella Ball. She was the youngest of eight children. She later moved to San Diego, California where she met her future husband and the love of her life, Jim Thurman. Jim and Jackie were married in Franklin, Kentucky on February 11, 1946. Shortly after their wedding the couple moved to Loveland, Colorado where they raised their two children, Cheryl and Wayne. Jackie worked at Empson Pea Cannery in Loveland before she became a full time homemaker, and later for a short time at the Cherry Processing Plant. Jackie was known for her kindness and giving heart, delicious baked goods, wit and creativity. She often passed the time with crossword puzzles, reading, and needlework. She was an avid prayer warrior and kept a written list of people and things to pray for everyday. Jackie loved music and her favorite, gospel music, was often playing on the radio in her home. Jim and Jackie were longtime members of Foothills Assembly of God Church in Fort Collins and dearly loved the Lord.
Jackie is survived by her two children; Cheryl Peckham (Dan) of North Bend, Oregon, and Wayne Thurman (Candy) of Fort Collins, Colorado; 6 Grandchildren, Julie Larson (Mark), Lisa Buchan (Jim), Shawn Smith (Sara), Jennifer Moore (Ryan), Jamie Mendenhall (Shane), and Jana Hassler (Kevin); 16 great grandchildren, Whitney, Ryan, Haley, Chloe, Hunter, Levi, Ethan, Simon, London, Piper, Jacob, Ethan, Jaiden, Keegan, Emily and Kally; 2 great-great grandchildren, Colton and Brylee. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim of 69 years, Parents, 7 Siblings; Thilma, Hazel, Doris, Lenore, Helen, Dale, and Ruth, and Grandson Jeff Smith.
A special thank you to the staff at Centre Avenue Rehab & Health Center, and Pathways Hospice staff for all the support, kind words, and dedicated care of Jackie for the last month.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Foothills Assembly of God Church located at 305 West Swallow Rd in Fort Collins on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., reception to follow service. Contributions can be made to Pathways Hospice at 305 Carpenter Road, Ft. Collins, CO 80525.
