Genette Nix

Genette Nix, 85, of Ft. Collins, died August 26, 2008 at Poudre Valley Hospital. Genette was born September 27, 1922 in White County, GA, the fourth of 12 children born to Elmer and Ida Nix. She attended school and worked in the fields and the woods while growing up. She married Leonard Nix February 15, 1942 in Cleveland, Georgia. They moved to Colorado, where they farmed and worked odd jobs until 1945. Genette and Leonard then moved to a timber camp at Gould, Colorado. They worked in the timber until 1950 when Leonard went to work at the REA. They purchased a ranch at Virginia Dale in 1948. Genette and her son, Junior worked the ranch while Leonard worked for the REA. They sold their ranch in 1966. They owned several different ranches around the Waverly area over the years. Genette worked hard her whole life. She was also the first to help anyone who needed it. She had several of her brothers and nephews live with them over the years. She is preceded in death by her parents; 10 brothers and sisters; her husband Leonard; and son, Junior Nix. Survivors include a brother Joe Nix of Cordon, Oregon; two granddaughters Valerie Hall of Ft. Collins and Debbie Lebo of Woodstock, Georgia, and a great-granddaughter Lisa Lebo. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
