Gary Ross West, 73, of Fort Collins, passed away May 9, 2012 at his home. Gary was born on September 24, 1938 in Flint, Michigan. He lived in various parts of Illinois and Michigan while growing up. Gary graduated from Drurey College in Springfield, Missouri in 1972. Gary was a NCO in the US Army and served from 1954-1976 as both Military Police and a CID agent. Gary also was Chief of Police in New Madison, Ohio for a short time. After moving to Fort Collins he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until he retired in September of 2000. Gary was married to Nancy Crain in 1976, until she passed away in July of 2000. They had one son, Carl. He was also married prior to Nancy to Monie West with whom he had Patty, Monica, Gary, II and Jerry. Monie also preceded him in death. After his retirement he became a regular at Lamar's Donut shop where he met with his friends every morning without fail. He also became a devoted volunteer at Immanuel Community Church. Gary was also an avid firearm's enthusiast, loved riding his motorcycle across country to visit family and friends and was always available as an ear to listen for everyone he loved. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Geraldine, his daughters, Patty, Monica and Jerry, his sons, Gary and Carl, 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren as well as various nieces, nephews and other extended family. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Immanuel Community Church, 1725 W. Mulberry. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Those who desire may view Mr. West from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
