Gary Wayne Turner was born December 7, 1953 in Yakima, Washington to Russell and Agnes Turner. Gary was the fourth of seven children born to Russell and Agnes. Gary spent his early years in the Denver, Colorado area moving to the Yakima Valley of Washington State in 1967.
Gary graduated from Grandview (WA) High School in 1972 and attended Yakima Valley College.
During his career, Gary worked as a construction carpenter, a grocery store stock keeper, a golf course grounds attendant and most recently, a school custodian.
Gary married Marlyta Mae Wheeler on December 26, 1984 in Prosser, Washington. Marlyta brought a son, Brandon Watne, into the marriage and Gary was now a dad. They added a son, Jeremy Turner, in December of 1985. The couple divorced in May 1989.
Gary moved to Nebraska in the late 1990's and there he met Cheryl Ann Semmens. They married on February 18, 2006 and lived in Nebraska until Cheryl's death in 2019. He retired to Fort Collins, Colorado where he lived until his death.
Gary had a lifelong love of music, in particular, classic rock and roll. He loved attending live blues music events, especially if his niece Grace Kuch was performing. He also loved cheering on the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, and Nebraska Cornhusker football teams.
Gary passed away on May 2, 2025 in Fort Collins, Colorado of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl Turner; parents Russell and Agnes Turner; brother Russell Turner, Jr. and sister Susan Jackson. He is survived by his sons Brandon Watne (fiancé Cecelia and children Kisa, Eric, Colton, and Jayce) and Jeremy Turner (wife Stacy and children Timothy, Davin, Camala and Embry); siblings Daniel Turner (wife BJ); Mary Mitchell (husband Scott); Thomas Turner (wife Kathleen); Timothy Turner (wife Shannon) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
