Gary O'Quinn, 84, was collected by Jesus on December 16, 2025, from High Plains Crossing memory care in Greeley, CO.
Gary was born in Houston, TX on July 28, 1941, to Jasper Bryan Lacy and Deane (O'Quinn) Lacy. Gary grew up in Houston. In his younger years he served in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood (TX), worked for NAPA Auto Parts and Dialog (oil industry), and, as he continued to do for most of his life, restored antique collector vehicles as a nearly second full-time career.
In 1974, Gary moved to Ft. Collins, CO, built his own home with the help of Randy Spence of Ft. Collins (deceased) and accepted a position as a claims adjuster with American Family Insurance, a position he remained in for almost three decades. Gary continued with his passion for restoring antique vehicles shortly after completing the build of his home.
He married Carmen (White) O'Quinn on November 25, 1981. Gary and Carmen just celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary in November.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman, particularly fond of shooting, hunting, fishing, off-roading, and snowmobiling for much of his life. He enjoyed and found the most satisfaction in working with his hands on projects that involved creativity – woodworking, vehicle restorations, landscaping, and building things.
Throughout his life, Gary loved hosting family and friends at his home. For many decades, Gary and Carmen's home was a place for family and friends to gather (often in large numbers) to share meals and life together.
He loved going out to eat with people and always viewed that experience as a social occasion, not something to be rushed along. With his own unique flavor of eccentricity, Gary enjoyed laughing and making other people laugh, often with one of the hundreds of mishap comedic experiences from his own life.
Gary is survived by his wife, Carmen O'Quinn; his son, Justin O'Quinn; and his daughter, Krysty (O'Quinn) Ronchetti of Albuquerque, New Mexico, both from a previous marriage. He is also survived by his stepsons, Brent Coonts of Windsor, Colorado, and Brian Coonts of Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Gary will be held on December 27, 2025 at the Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524. The memorial service will begin at10:00AM and will be followed by a brief graveside service.
