Gary Bowers

Gary Patrick Bowers, 54, of Fort Collins, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Bowers was born Oct. 15, 1950, in Fort Collins to William Andrew Bowers and Shirley Ann "Dowling" Bowers. Gary lived most of his life in Fort Collins, graduating in 1969 from Poudre High School. He then attended Western State College in Gunnison before joining the Navy. For four years Gary was stationed at China Lake Naval Weapons, California where he met and married his wife, Laurie Ann Cox on March 3, 1973. In 1975 they returned to Fort Collins and Gary worked several years with his father in Bower's Excavation. He was last employed by the City of Fort Collins Traffic Department as a supervisor. Gary enjoyed off-road racing and built dune buggies. He was an avid Harley rider and loved to rebuild bikes with and for his friends. Mr. Bowers is survived by his wife, Laurie Ann Bowers, of Fort Collins; his mother, Shirley Ann Bowers, of Fort Collins; a sister, Cheryl Ann Abold, of Fort Collins; one niece, Keva Abold; two nephews, Trew and Ian Abold; a great-niece, Kyla; and numerous extended family. Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by his father in 1980. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
