Gail Jane (Harrold) Elliott, 89, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 24th, 2026, in Fort Collins Colorado. Born on March 4, 1937, to John and Bessie (Culp) Harrold, Gail was the 7th of eight sisters and grew up on her father’s farm near Anselmo/Merna, Nebraska. Gail had many fond memories of her mother’s baking, and her father’s farm, horses, and cattle. She recalls her sisters carrying her around the farm and teaching her to cook.
Gail married in 1957 and moved to Greeley Colorado, where she lived until 1967 at which time she purchased her home in Fort Collins where she spent the next 59 years.
Gail referred to herself as “just a girl from Nebraska” and cites her three sons as her proudest family moment. She was an avid gardener and couldn’t wait until the first tomato ripened in her garden then canning in the fall, or when the first flowers in her yard bloomed. Gail was active in 4-H and served as a Junior Leader advisor for many years. She also was certified as a care giver and spent 18 years providing care and support to local seniors.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Harrold and Bessie (Culp) Harrold, sisters – Delma, Lucille, Dona, Mary Lou, Ruth, and Glee. She is survived by a sister Carroll, sons Randy (sp. Pat), Rusty (sp. Kris), and Rodney; one grandchild Ashley Price, and four great-grandchildren Trent Suppes, Pacey Castle, Karsyn Price, and Eli Price.
A visitation will begin at 10am with the funeral service to follow at 11am on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary, Broken Bow, NE. Burial will follow the services at Kilfoil Township Cemetery, Custer County, Merna, Nebraska. Online words of remembrance or condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com
