Freda Joanne Sterkel

Freda Joanne Sterkel of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 90.

Joanne was born on July 15, 1934 in Wakeeney, Kansas to parents Margaret and Fred Bauer. Joanne and her 2 sisters moved with their parents to Loveland, Colorado in 1947 where she attended schools and graduated from Loveland High School in 1952.

Joanne developed a love for music as a child and was active in band and choir in high school. She also played piano for her church for many years.

In 1953 she met her husband to be Glen Sterkel and they were married on May 8, 1955.

Joanne worked as a word processor at CSU for 25 years. She loved bowling and was active in leagues for many years.

Joanne is preceded in death by her husband Glen, her sister Kathryn Majeski, and her parents Margaret and Fred Bauer.

Joanne is survived by her sister Harriet, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Loveland, Colorado on Saturday, January 11 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Pathways Hospice.
