Freda A. Hilgenberg

November 7, 1916 — September 28, 2011

Listen to Obituary
Freda Hilgenberg was born on November 7, 1916 to Fred and Dama Moore Wetzler. She moved to heaven on September 28, 2011. Freda had three younger brothers: James Juanita Wetzler, Claude Helen Wetzler and Fred Murriel Wetzler. All three brothers and her parents preceded her in death. Freda was also preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Hilgenberg and a son-in-law, Pete Ingraham. Freda was introduced to Edwin John Hilgenberg by her brother Jim. She and Ed were married on July 6, 1937. Their family consisted of six daughters, all who survive Freda: Elizabeth Charles Shellman; Karen Marc Snow; Edwina Ingraham; Patricia Bill Schwindt; Lillian Dale Baumgartner; and Sylva Thomas de Groot. Freda also has 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Freda graduated from Laporte High School and was the first Homecoming Queen of Laporte High School. She loved growing up in Laporte and often talked about growing up in such a loving family. Her love of family and family history has been passed down to all of her daughters. Freda and Edwin raised their daughters in the First Baptist Church. She was a member of Immanuel Community Church at the time of her death. Her love for God was the cornerstone of her life. Freda built her family on this cornerstone. She never doubted in her beliefs and did not stray from them. Freda shared her love of bowling, golf and raising roses with her husband. Her yard, and her many roses, provided many hours of pleasure for her every summer. She enjoyed sitting in her yard in the cool mornings and evenings talking about her flowers, the birds, the squirrels, and the planes that she saw overhead. She will be long remembered and missed by her daughters and their husbands, as well as her grandchildren and great grand-children that spent happy times with her. They all have wonderful memories of their ?Granny Freda?. The family would like to thank the Visiting Angels and Front Range Hospice for their loving care of Freda and support of our family. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Front Range Hospice or the Visiting Angels in Loveland. All of her daughters would like to say: We love you, Mom. Heaven now has a wonderful new addition. Jeremiah 29: 11 - 13 Those who wish may view Mrs. Hilgenberg from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Immanuel Community Church, 1725 W. Mulberry. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
