Fred Sansouci

Fred L. Sansouci, 89, passed away Feb. 27, 2007, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, as his grandson was telling him goodbye. Fred was born June 5, 1917, to Homer Sansouci and Emma Owens Sansouci in Mountain View, Mo. He married Nellie Wallace Osler in June 1939 and they headed west in the early '40s. Fred worked on a ranch in North Park during World War II, as a mechanic in Laramie, Wyo., then he moved his family to Encampment, Wyo., where he worked for R.R. Crow. In 1958, he moved his family once again to LaPorte and hauled wood products to Broderick Wood in Denver until he retired in 1982. Through the years Fred enjoyed fishing and loved to ride to Watson Lake to observe the eagles. He said, "I must have done something right in my life for God to let me live such a long time and still be able to see an eagle in the sky." Fred is survived by his two daughters, Nedra Nauta and her husband Don, of LaPorte; Linda Nauta and her husband Lee, of Nunn. He leaves four grandchildren, Ted Nauta of LaPorte, Ron and Bob Nauta of Nunn, and Tern Hart of LaPorte. He is survived by four great-grandchildren, Mindy and Clay Hart of LaPorte, and Bryce and Chelsea Nauta of Nunn. Also surviving is his brother, Wayne Sansouci of Birch Tree, Mo. We'll all miss his great sense of humor and the love he felt for his family. He taught us all that a man is only as good as his word. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie; his parents; one brother, Herman Sansouci; a sister, Norene Carr; and three stepsons, Charles, Chester and Clarence 'Bob' Osler. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 5, at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery with a luncheon immediately following in the multipurpose room for family and friends.
