Frank Joseph Jonas passed away after a long battle with cancer on July 15, 2022, at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Thomas Morris Jonas and his mother, Marjorie Suhs. Frank is survived by his sisters Marjorie Jakusz, Kathleen Tepp and Patricia Mansavage, his wife Jane (Magalska) and his three children and their families; Jennifer and Kent Brase (Jake and Jordyn), Lisa and Scott Cooper (Braedyn and Cal) and Seth and Lindsay Jonas (Emelia). Frank was a loving, strong, funny and charismatic man. He grew up in Stevens Point, WI. He met Jane during their junior year of high school (1964) and have been side-by-side ever since. They married in 1966 and he adored her with all his heart. He had a career in broadcasting and created a beautiful life for his family which included many moves ("toughened us up") and many adventures: vacations in Northern Wisconsin, lake life, shopping, sail boating, downhill skiing and the beauty of Colorado. He was always known to tell a good joke, cheat at cards, listen to music, make silly faces at his grandchildren, and pretend-complain about his dogs.
Frank and Jane retired in Fort Collins, Colorado where they enjoyed a wonderful retirement skiing, fly fishing, hiking, entertaining grandchildren and raising dogs. He stayed connected to his past career by maintaining close relationships with colleagues and even did some part time consulting work for his close friend Pat Stoffers. Frank and Pat were known to have many weekly phone conversations that almost always involved Frank's contagious laugh. After a life of basset hounds, he and Jane spent the last several years with their Grand Basset Griffon Vendeens, Emmett and Josey as their #1 companions. He enjoyed looking out at the yard watching his dogs with the beautiful Colorado foothills in their view. His presence lives on in all of us and as Seth said, "we would not be who we are today if it was not for our loving Dad."
The immediate family will have a small memorial service for him in early September. In lieu of cards or flowers, please consider making a donation in his name to UC Health Northern Colorado Foundation.
