Francisco Nevarez-Barraza died peacefully in his home surrounded by family and loved ones on Sunday, September 20th, 2015. Francisco was born October 10, 1935 in Cruces, Chihuahua, Mexico to Francisco and Celestina Nevarez. They proudly worked as ranchers in the fields, a childhood memory that Francisco cherished deeply throughout his life. His love and respect for horses and cattle never wavered. He met the love of his life and eventual wife of over fifty years, Maria (Marquez) Jesus Nevarez, working side by side in the city of Peña Blanca. They married in Cruces, Mexico, wasted no time and immediately began a family. Francisco brought his family to the United States over thirty years ago to provide a stable life. He wanted his children to have the opportunities he never had growing up. Francisco was a "jack of all trades". He worked in dairy farms, meatpacking plants, and in the end, as a facilities caretaker. Many of his friends and those who knew Francisco, understood his passion for helping others. The Latino community called him "El Sobador", "The Masseur". Francisco specialized in traditional deep tissue massage, providing his services to those who sought out his expertise day or night. At times, the cars would be lined up down the block of his home for his help. He never denied anyone care and his work, known to thousands, established a reputation for caring for all people, with a variety of ailments. Francisco, being the proud and humble man that he is, carried out his craft until he was physically unable. His attentions turned to his family and a courageous battle against his cancer. His life lessons and purpose driven style of living will never be forgotten. Left to honor and remember Francisco is his wife Maria (Marquez) Jesus Nevarez and children Sergio, Alfredo, Carlos (Natasha), Eric, Mauro, Sandra (Carlos), Laura, and Angelica. He was a proud grandfather to over thirty grandchildren. The family eventually welcomed seven great grandchildren that Francisco loved spending time with. Francisco will be remembered as a strong, humble, and loving family man. The Nevarez family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts, and condolences during this difficult time in our lives. We thank you.
