Floyd Eugene Taladay, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2021. He was born in Sterling, CO in 1941. After high school, Floyd joined the Navy. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Constellation. While stationed in Bermuda, he met the love of his life, Shirley. He retired after 20 years of service and returned to Colorado to attend Colorado State University, where he earned a degree in Forestry.
Floyd was a devoted father and an active member of the Fort Collins Community. He worked for the Poudre school district, Fort Collins Transportation, and Saint Joseph's Catholic School. He spent many hours volunteering for the Boy Scouts, American Legion and FRA. He was a devout member of the American Baptist Church family for over 40 years. Floyd loved spending time with his family and seeing the world with Shirley in his retirement. He was also a proud member of the Disabled Veterans of America.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley, son, Brian (Nadia) Taladay of Sacramento CA, daughter, Diane (Mel) Moreland of Fort Collins and son, David (Kristyn) Taladay of Dillon, CO. He is also survived by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 24, 2021 at the American Baptist Church. Due to limited attendance, the service will be recorded and played later in the daytime through the Bohlender website. A private, graveside service with full military honors will be held at Fort Logan immediately following.
