After a long battle with colon cancer, Flo Novovesky passed away at 5 a.m. May 5, 2005. Her husband, Mike and children, Cindy, Scott, Paul and Tanya were all in attendance, as well as Flo's sister, Doris and brother, Jim. Flo was born March 26, 1939, in Jersey City, N.J., to Lillian and Hjalmar Madsen. She attended Emerson High School in Union City, N.J., where she met Mike Novovesky. They became engaged at the Arch de Triumph in Paris while Flo was visiting Mike in the Air Force. Mike and Flo celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on April 30, 2005. In 1961, they welcomed their first child, a daughter, and then in 1962, a son. Soon after, they moved to Fort Collins where Mike attended Colorado State University and Flo worked to support him and the children. In 1969, toward the end of their time in Colorado, they welcomed another son into the family. There was a short stay in Ohio, then on to Illinois in 1971, where their youngest daughter was born. They lived in Woodridge and Downers Grove, Ill., until 1994, when they returned to Fort Collins. Flo is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Cindy Rapley Steve of Aurora, Ill., Scott Novovesky of Fort Collins, Paul Novovesky of Lockport, Ill., and Tanya Holpuch Jeff of Fort Collins. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Carrie and Laura Rapley, Kirsten Novovesky, and Austin and Victoria Holpuch. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Harbor Fellowship Church. Food will be served following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. A memorial service will also be held for Flo at 11 a.m. May 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle, Ill. A light lunch will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County or FIRST Floriculture Industry Research and Scholarship Trust for the Mike and Flo Novovesky Scholarship Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524.
