Ferne Lucille Schneider

Ferne Lucille Schneider, 87, passed away on September 17, 2009 at Good Samaritan Village in Fort Collins. Ferne was born on February 22, 1922 in Lamberton, Minnesota to Lillie and Joakim Coulter and grew up on the family farm with her two older brothers, Edwin and Leonard. She graduated from the Macalester College and worked for Minneapolis Honeywell until her chance meeting of Cliff Schneider in 1945. Following Cliff's discharge from the Navy, they were married in 1946 and moved to Fort Collins where they would raise their two daughters. Ferne was a homemaker and also worked for the CSU Food Service. She enjoyed the time she spent with friends, her bible study group, and extension club. "Grammie" enjoyed her grandchildren immensely and took much pride in their accomplishments. Ferne is survived by Cliff, her husband of 63 years; her daughters, Susan Heckman and husband, Dick, Linda Samuelson and husband, John; three grandchildren, Kelly Holland, husband Rob, Jeff Samuelson, and Brooke Rakow, husband Alexi; and two great granddaughters, Anja Rakow, and Gracie B. Holland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. The family is very grateful for the loving care given by the staff of Good Samaritan Village in Fort Collins and Pathways Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Pathways Hospice, Good Samaritan Village in Fort Collins or Trinity Lutheran Church in her memory. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ferne's life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 10:30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 East Stuart Street. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Garden.
