Frances Fern Chinburg, 95, of Fort Collins, died Oct. 17, 2008, at Lane County Long Term Care in Dighton, Kan. Mrs. Chinburg was born April 19, 1913, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Abraham Kinnison and Sall Ann "Goldie" McCoun Kinnison. Fern's family moved to Greeley in the mid 1920's where Fern finished grade school. She graduated from Campion Adademy, near Loveland in 1931. Fulfilling her personal dream, Fern graduated from Boulder, Sanitarium and Hospital School of Nursing in February of 1935. Fern's interest in obstetrical nursing led her to pursue further training in Chicago Lying-In Hospital. She spent several of her early nursing years in obstetrical care. Fern married Carl Harold Chinburg on Aug. 31, 1939. She and her husband moved to Fort Collins after the war, where Fern continued her career, working for many years as a private duty nurse. She had a great love for music and played both piano and organ. Fern enjoyed reading, needlework and collecting antique dolls. She loved the mountains and especially Rocky Mountain National Park. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Fort Collins, the Colorado Daughters of the American Revolution, and the American Guild of Organists. Survivors include her son, Paul Chinburg and his wife, Marilyn of Dighton, Kan.; two sisters, Hope Maples of Brighton, and Clarene Taylor of Enid, Okla., and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Frances in death are her parents. Her husband also preceded her on June 2, 1984. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Those who desire may view Mrs. Chinburg on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
