Listen to Obituary
Fort Collins, Colo – McDonald's lost a very loyal customer on September 19, 2016. Everett Mill of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and formally of Cheyenne, Wyo. passed away in Fort Collins after a long life full of adventure, love, and humor. He is especially remembered for his keen sense of humor. Everett always had a joke to tell and a laugh to give.

Everett was the third youngest of seven siblings born in Fort Collins, Colo., on September 1, 1931. His younger days were spent farming and helping his family get by. He fondly referred to where he grew up in North Fort Collins as the 'jungles' and shared many memories of exploring with his brothers and sisters. He was full of stories about downtown Fort Collins from when he was a kid delivering papers and working odd jobs, notably delivering papers to the Armstrong Hotel. Everett proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954 on the U.S.S. Hailey.

Returning from the U.S. Navy, Everett relocated to Cheyenne, Wyo. Shortly after arriving in Cheyenne, Everett met Joanne Hacker. After one hell of an wedding story, the two spent nearly every moment together over the last 58 years. Everett and Joanne have two different versions of how they met. Everett's is undoubtedly the funnier, not true version. Together Everett and Joanne enjoyed the simple things in life, loved each other endlessly, always split meals at restaurants, and explored the world. Best friends, is a perfect explanation.

After retiring, Everett and Joanne spent the winter months in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. A community of friends, oftentimes considered family was built and the fun times and laughs were endless. Everett enjoyed fishing with his buddies, waking up at the crack of dawn for a morning swim, and telling jokes to everyone he met. It was easy to find him in the mornings because coffee at McDonalds with the guys was rarely missed. Everett was a fan of Dixie Land Jazz and enjoyed traveling to jazz festivals, where he loved to watch people dance and have a great time. Everett also enjoyed boating and would spend many weekends at the lake with is family in Glendo, Wyo.

Everett was a strong man who survived four heart attacks, the first one being at age 41. Many credit his wife, Joanne for keeping him healthy. Everett was the recipient of an artificial heart pump in 2011, which allowed him to continue to enjoy life. His family thanks all of the caregivers, and especially the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Ariz for the impeccable care Everett received.

Everett had a special place in his heart for his family. He was the favorite family member to many. In addition to his wife, Joanne, Everett is survived by his three children Rebecca DiCicco of Cheyenne, Debbie Robinson of Fort Collins, and Steve Mill of Cheyenne. He loved spending time with his five grandchildren, Chris DiCicco (Adrienne) of Spokane, Paul DiCicco (Adriana) of Steamboat Springs, Aubrie Newendyke (Mark) of Windsor, Caitlin Stouffer (Jordan) of Fort Collins, and Aspen Mill of Cheyenne. Everett is also survived by six very loved great-grandchildren as well as brother Robert Mill (Karen) of Morrison. Preceded in death by his parents Fred Sr. and Elizabeth Mill and siblings Harold, Fred Jr. Gene, Irene, and Lily.

Memorial will be held at 1:30p.m. on Tuesday, September 27 at the Kiwanis Community House at Lions Park in Cheyenne.
