Evelyn Mary Hassett

Evelyn passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 22, 2015 at Berthoud Living Center in Berthoud, Colorado. Evelyn was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1947. She earned a degree from Creighton University School of Nursing in 1950 and worked as a registered nurse for over 50 years.

Evelyn married Thomas Gerald Hassett on May 31, 1952, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Omaha, and they had eight children. They moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, in 1976 and raised their younger children there. She loved the Colorado mountains, her family, her work and her many friends.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Hassett, and her children Terrence Hassett, Linda (Bob) Coate, daughter-in-law Valerie Hassett, Chris (Linda) Hassett, Michaela (Jeffrey) Knight and Colleen (Matt) Thomas. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John & Evelyn Gamerl, a brother, John C. Gamerl, sons Timothy and Shaun Hassett and a daughter, Evelyn (Hassett) Gruba.

A Rosary will be said at 7 pm on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Saint John XXIII Catholic Church, Fort Collins, CO. A Funeral Mass is planned for 11 am Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Interment, Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation be made on Evelyn's behalf to Friends of the Haven or the Larimer County Food Bank in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive - Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
