Evelyn Bolt, 92, passed away in the early morning of October 3, 2010 at Sterling House in Loveland, Colorado. She was born in Orienta, Oklahoma to Adam and Bena Ratzlaff. Adam was a Russian Mennonite immigrant who homesteaded parts of Oklahoma. She spent her childhood on a farm with her many brothers and sisters. Her first two years of high school were at Meno Bible School, and she subsequently graduated from Fairview High school. Evelyn then attended Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas and graduated in 3 years in 1940. She was then employed as a nurse at Boeing in Wichita. She met her husband, Lawrence Bolt, administering first aid to his hand injury. They married on June 15, 1942. Evelyn was a mother and homemaker in Fairview, Oklahoma and then Wichita, Kansas until 1959 when her family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. She had a fine aesthetic, wit and humor, was a marvelous cook, and was generous to her children, who were the most important part of her life. After several decades of homemaking, she decided to resume her career as a nurse at North Eventide in Fort Collins. After retiring in 1983, she traveled to Europe and Mexico. She and her husband joined Good Sam?s Club and traveled in the states. She stayed in her Fort Collins home until 2007 and then resided at Sterling House. The staffs at Sterling House and Front Range Hospice were her second family. She is the beloved mother of Carolyn Roger Charlton of Fredrick, CO; Jeanette Leys of Arlington Heights, Illinois; Thomas of Longmont, CO; Timothy of Dallas, Texas; Edward of Lafayette, CO; Lawrence Marla of Fort Collins, CO; Beverly David Welsh of Fort Worth, Texas; David of San Francisco, CA; RebeccaSherri of Fort Collins, CO; and Richard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, and son, Richard. She is survived by her children, her grandchildren, John, Paul, and Eric Leys; Brandon and Adam Bolt; Alison Hadley and Samantha Welsh; a great-granddaughter, Chelsey Leys, and a sister, Ruby Reames of Okeene, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
