Eugene Turnbull Sr. passed away on October 17, 2024 at UC Health Greeley Hospital, with family by his side. Eugene was born to Dewey and Gladys Turnbull in Clearmont, Missouri on September 4, 1928. Eugene served in the Army-Air Force from 1946-1949 and served in the Pacific in WWII. In 1948 Eugene married Bernice Tietz. When got out of the service he wore many different hats, he was a baker, mechanic, worked for the Coca Cola company, Hewlett Packard, the National Forest Service, and was always taking classes of some kind to help better himself and his family. Eugene played many different instruments and was very crafty. He enjoyed older country music, polka and some gospels. He was a square dancer in his younger years. He always had some kind of western movies on the tv in the last few years. Eugene was very excited when he went on the Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2014. He looked forward to Saturdays when Marie(granddaughter) would take him to Golden Corral for the PAMVET breakfast, he enjoyed seeing everyone there and especially enjoyed ringing the bell to start.
Eugene is survived by his sister Viola Crawford of Calico Rock, AR. Daughter Linda (Larry) Munholland of Berthoud, CO. Son Ron Turnbull of Mitchell, SD. 13 Grandkids, 26 Great Grandkids, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernice, 2 sisters and 1 brother, 2 sons Eugene Jr and Raymond, a grandson, and a great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held 10am-12pm with the funeral service to begin at noon on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Roselawn Cemetery.
