Ernest Jay Miranda was born September 11, 1959, in Fort Collins, Colorado to parents Valerio and Juliana Miranda. He attended Laporte Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High, and graduated from Centennial High School. He enjoyed playing sports including JAA football, youth baseball, basketball with Holy Family Church, and basketball with Lincoln Junior High. He also learned the art of Kung Fu. He enjoyed participating in tournaments and winning trophies.
Ernest also enjoyed music. First with the Jackson 5 and the Osmond bros. He attended both concerts in Denver with his siblings. He later moved on to Earth, Wind, and Fire, the Stylistics, Tower of Power, and rock music. He enjoyed taking long walks, sometimes walking up to Horsetooth Reservoir.
He is preceded in death by his father Valerio Miranda; grandparents Ernesto and Carolina Miranda, and Lalo and Victoria Martinez; brothers-in-law Wally Romero, Tony Salas, and Andrew Belen; and great nephews Adrian Castillon and Andre Salas.
Ernest is survived by his mother Jay Miranda; sisters Maxine Miranda, Nancy Romero, Valerie Castillon (Elias Jr.), Laura Salas, Carolina Gonzales (Tomas) all of Fort Collins; brother Jeff Miranda (David) of Aurora, CO; 14 nieces and nephews; 38 great nieces and nephews; and 22 great-great nieces and nephews.
He will be missed deeply by his family, especially his mother who cared for him for many years.
A Visitation is planned for Monday, February 2, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins CO 80524, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 pm at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 11:00 am at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
