Listen to Obituary
Ernest Carl Demlow, 96, passed away on May 8, 2010. Preceded in death by wives, Evelyn and Margaret; and son, John. He is survived by wife, Ruby; and children, James Delsa Demlow, and Thomas Lynda Demlow. Also, he is survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was born July 3, 1913 in Polar, Wisconsin. He was raised on a farm, and graduated from Antigo High School where he met his first wife Evelyn Flannery. They were married in 1935 and had 3 sons, John, who passed on as an infant, James, and Thomas. He worked in the family meat market in Antigo before moving to Fort Collins to run a finance and collection business. He found his true calling in the life insurance business working as a manager before retiring in 1976. After Evelyn passed, he married Margaret Kelly, who had 2 sons, Donald and Jerry. When Margaret passed away, he married Ruby Garfield in 1990. She has a son, Doug, and a daughter, Debbie. He was a dedicated member of St. John's Lutheran Church for over 60 years and was on the church council. He was a charter member of the Golden K Kiwanis in Fort Collins. He loved fishing and playing cards with family and friends. Friends and family members would gather for the annual July 3rd birthday and 4th fish barbecue, picnic and fireworks. He maintained his sense of humor with a quick and sometimes subtle wit. Ernie was a terrific husband, dad, grandpa, and friend and will be missed by all. We want to thank the staff of Columbine West for the kind and loving care that they provided Ernie. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church at 305 East Elizabeth on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Gifts in his memory may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church and Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
