His ministry was at churches in Tennessee, Arkansas, California and Colorado, with the last church being in Brownfield, Texas. He enjoyed preaching, teaching, and Bible classes, and he worshiped at the Meadowlark Church. He also served as interim minister for several area churches. His recreation included camping, fishing and tending to his tomato garden. He married Mary Ouida Wright in 1943. She died in 1965. A sister, Sue Husty, and a brother, Paul Boone, also preceded him in death. In March 26, 1967, he married Elnora M. Knight in Denver. Elnora passed away April 11, 2006. Ernest is survived by his sons, H. Verlon Boone and J. David Boone, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; stepchildren, Estella Baker of Loveland, Leo Knight and wife, Joyce, of Fort Collins, James Knight and wife, Brenda, of Greeley, Linda and husband, Lynn Allen, of Olathe, Kan.; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. The stepchildren often wonder if Ernest knew what kind of extended family he would have when he married Elnora. Ernest you were always a good dad and grandfather. We will miss you.
