Ernest Randall Bean, 81, of Fort Collins, Colorado, entered into eternal life on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Randall was born August 1, 1944 in Akron, Ohio, to Ernest Keller Bean and Lucille Carolyn (Weber) Bean. He was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Buchtel High School in Akron, earned his BA from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, and his Masters of Divinity from Drew University in Madison, NJ.
Randall was ordained in the United Methodist Church and served many congregations in the Northern New Jersey conference. During a break from the ministry he worked for Prudential, remaining involved in the church as an organist. His own Walk to Emmaus participation and subsequent involvement with that program inspired his return to full-time ministry in New Jersey. After retiring, Randall moved to South Carolina, where he is fondly remembered, and then to Colorado to be near family.
Randall had many musical talents. He learned to play the organ and piano at a young age and was involved in musical theater in high school. In college, he spent two summers in Hawaii and brought home a ukulele, "Betsy", which he played for the rest of his life. His hobbies included woodworking, golf, sudoku, and making the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. He was an enthusiastic bridge player and particularly loved the challenge of bidding and making three no trump. He loved clocks and had at least one in every room. He was involved with Toastmasters and was an accomplished extemporaneous speaker. He remained an optimist and a Cleveland Browns fan his entire life and enjoyed watching the games with the local Browns Backers club wherever he lived.
Randall is survived by two children, three grandchildren, and one brother.
A visitation will be held 4-6 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10 at 11:00 am at Heart of the Rockies Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart of the Rockies Capital Campaign.
