Erik Hoffman Myers, 26, died June 7, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at The Gardens on Spring Creek, 2145 Center Ave. in Fort Collins. A reception will follow at The Gardens from 6-8 p.m. The body has been cremated and will be interred at the columbarium at Grandview Cemetery. Erik was born June 8, 1987, in Fort Collins to Sara Hoffman and Randy Myers. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 2005 and from Colorado State University in 2010. He was a writer. During college, Erik was an editor and writer at The Collegian; a music programmer and DJ at KSCU; and worked at the student television station. He majored in journalism, and did internships for Spin Magazine in New York City and National Public Radio in Washington, D.C. He most recently worked as a content and creative developer for Home Advisor in Golden, and as a free-lance writer for various publications. He loved travelling, especially to adventurous places. He visited Saudi Arabia last year, almost made it to North Korea, and had plans to see Thailand in December. He also saw Europe, Australia and Japan.
Erik liked music, especially punk rock, rap, electronic, and pop. He was a passionate, intense young man with high expectations for himself. In addition to his parents, he is survived by sisters, Kelsey Myers and Morgan Myers, both of Fort Collins; grandparents, Zellamae Hoffman of Sun City West, Ariz.; and Joan and Clyde Myers of Fort Collins; aunts and uncles, Bonnie and Richard Thompson of Larkspur, Colo.; Jan and Dean Swingle of Peoria, Ariz.; and Celia and Charles Seastone of Loveland; numerous cousins, and many friends.
