Listen to Obituary
Emerson "Bud" King was born March 21,1929 and raised in Westover, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Navy in 1946 and proudly served aboard the Battleship Missouri, the Heavy Cruiser Rochester the Destroyer DD Roberts. He often enjoyed recounting his time he spent in the service, visiting many naval ports around the world. After briefly attending college, he worked at J & L Steel in Pennsylvania before he and his brother decided to drive west to California.

In Los Angeles, Bud worked as a sales representative for the Sonnett Supply Company for several years during which time he met his future wife, Mary. There they began their family with the births of their sons, Mark and Scott. In 1964, he and his family, his brother, Cecil and his wife, Martha and son, Kenny all moved to Fort Collins. There they opened the Spudnut Shop on South College Ave. After selling the business in 1975, Bud returned to his previous career of sales of plumbing and electrical supplies. He spent many years receiving customers at RnR Supply Co in Fort Collins before retiring.

Bud loved the beauty of Colorado. He enjoyed planning weekend camping and fishing trips so much with his sons up to Red Feather or up the Poudre Canyon. He also had a great love of hunting and planned annual trips with his son, Mark, his brother, Cecil or his Uncle Bob. He seldom ever shot at anything. He just liked the adventure of it all and being in the outdoors with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his brother, Cecil King; his sisters, Rosemary Gardena and Pauline Campbell; his parents; Paul and Willetta King.

He is survived by his sons, Mark and Kelly King, Scott King and Lou Marchesano; grandson, Jacob and Maddie King, granddaughter, Katie and Jacob Dunford.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Columbine West, his nurses, doctors and Hospice for all their hard work, care and love they gave our father. We will be forever grateful for their commitment to their professional responsibilities given to him.

Burial of cremains with Military Honors for Bud and his wife, Mary will be at 11:30 a.m., Monday, October 30, 2017 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in care of Bohlender funeral chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
