Our beloved mother and dear friend has passed away. She will be dearly missed. Friends and family knew her as Elvira or Vera.

She was born in Laredo, Texas to Isidro and Isabel Guajardo on December 19, 1929. She and her parents and brother would come to Fort Collins in the summer months to work on a farm northeast in the area now owned by Anheuser-Busch. It was here she met her future husband, Rodolfo Elizalde. They married in 1950 in Fort Collins.

Mom enjoyed arts and crafts. Her favorite being crocheting. She worked for the migrant council during the summer with migrant children. In time she became a para-professional, working at Lesher Jr. High School. She worked many years before finally retiring in 1976.

She was preceded in death by her parents Isidro and Isabel Guajardo; her brother Santiago Guajardo; husband Rodolfo Elizalde; sons Rodolfo Elizalde Jr., Rodolfo Jesus Elizalde; daughter Maria Elena Elizalde; grandsons Matthew De Los Santos, Michael Elizalde and granddaughter Genevieve Elizalde.

She is survived by daughters Elza (Roy) Gutierrez, Lila (Pedro) De Los Santos, Edna Elizalde; a son Juan (Erma) Elizalde; grandsons: Chris Gutierrez, Stephen Gutierrez, James De Los Santos; granddaughters: Vicky Little, Emmalee Dominguez, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
