Elva L. Shoultz died February 5, 2014 at a local nursing home. Elva was born January 4, 1917 to Fred Sly and Gertrude Tschop Sly in Nucla, Colorado. Education was very important in her family, Elva and her seven siblings were either valedictorian or salutatorian of their high school classes. She was married on October 29, 1935 in Nucla to Samuel Edward Shoultz. They lived in Casper, Wyoming for many years, where Elva was a Junior High School Teacher. They moved to Grand Junction in 1974, and Elva worked in a doctor's office as a nurse. They then moved to Ft. Collins in 1985 and she worked many summers at Glen Echo Resort. Survivors include her sons, Sam Shoultz of Ft. Collins and Michael Shoultz of Paris Arkansas; two sisters, Irva Stokes of Green Valley, Arizona and Freda Swain of Montrose, Colorado; two grandchildren, Samuel Edward Shoultz and Michelle Griffin; a great-granddaughter, Abby Shoultz, and Ken Matzner, Sam's business partner, whom she considered part of the family. Preceding Elva in death are her parents, 3 sisters, a brother, and her husband, Samuel. Elva was a very kind, thoughtful, and sweet lady throughout her life and will be missed by her family and friends. Throughout her life being a Christian was one of the most important parts of her life. A visitation will be held Monday, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
