Listen to Obituary
Elsie Lillian (Solomon) Fisher left her earthly body and was welcomed home on Friday, May 2, 2025. She lived out her faith by always acting for the benefit of others. Born November 23, 1927, in Windsor CO, the oldest of five children, she grew up knowing the value of hard work. Elsie graduated from Timnath High School in 1945. On January 1, 1947, Elsie married the love of her life, Duane Robert Fisher. The two worked hard together throughout the years and raised three children. Life wasn't always easy, but the home they built together was full of love and laughter. Together, they built up two nationally recognized Holstein herds. Elsie and Duane were loving and devoted grandparents, and their door was always open to anyone who needed them. Elsie remained in the "house on the hill" until 2021 when she moved to Collinwood Assisted Living in Fort Collins.

In addition to raising a family, Elsie was a long-time leader of the Timnath Goal Diggers 4-H club. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and embroidery, and was a member of the local chapter of The Embroiders Guild of America. She loved to play the piano, and until recently was still known to sit down and play by heart. She passed on her artistic and creative abilities to her children and grandchildren. Elsie also loved reading and puzzles. Elsie and Duane spent countless hours cheering on the Colorado State University men's and women's basketball teams and volleyball teams. They loved to travel and crossed the globe traveling to places like New Zealand, Australia, and Hawaii for a Pro Bowl game. But the trips they looked forward to more than any other were to Montana to see their granddaughters, Sara and Carla. A lover of History, Elsie was a member of the Columbine Club in Timnath, and co-authored Timnath, A History with Del Miller, a longtime friend. Most importantly, she devoted her life to Christ and was a long-time member of Timnath Presbyterian Church.

Preceding Elsie in death were her husband, Duane R. Fisher, son, Jerry Fisher, Daughter-in-law Shelley Fisher, parents, Minnie (Lingelbach) and Elmer Solomon, in-laws William and Hila (Hasbrouck) Fisher, as well as brothers, Dale, Robert, William, and Richard (Bing) Solomon and a number of other loved ones.

Elsie is survived by her son Jim (Noel) Fisher, Daughter Joan (Lyndel) Saxbury, grandchildren Clint Fisher, Scott Saxbury, Sara (Kris) Steffensen, Mike (Devon) Saxbury, Kathy Saxbury, Carla Fisher, great-grandchildren Mary (Eric) Hill, Grace (Ethan) Ryder, Vanessa Ryder, Gentry Laughlin, great-great-grandson, Roran Hill, Sister-in-law Maxine Solomon, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Elsie may be gone, but she will never be forgotten. Elsie will continue to live on through all those who keep her alive in their hearts.

Please join us as we gather to celebrate Elsie's life on Saturday, May 31 at 10:30 am. A memorial service will be held at Timnath Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Timnath Presbyterian Church.
