Elmer D. Schneider passed away tranquilly in his son's home on February 27, 2022, in Fort Collins, Colorado at the age of 91.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Gertrude "Betty" (Masters) Schneider, son Larry Schneider along with his grandchildren Elizabeth, Arthur, Matt, Ryan, Holly, Stacy, Seth and Alexi, as-well-as 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Adam and Mary-Elizabeth, sister Ester, and brothers Chuck, Harold, Richard, and Leroy.
Elmer was born on his family farm May 12, 1930, in Fort Collins, Colorado to Adam and Mary-Elizabeth (Petrie) Schneider. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1948. He married Betty Masters, his high school sweetheart on April 16th, 1950. Elmer's family will always remember him as a hard-working, caring, calm, understanding, motivated husband and father who encouraged everyone to pursue their goals, dreams and ambitions. His son only thought of him in one way, his superhero. Elmer was always there for him through his trials and tribulations and taught him to enjoy every moment that life has to offer.
Elmer was a dedicated individual who is cherished by his family. He was always willing to jump in and help people out. Elmer loved spending time watching the grandkids. Elmer was passionate about watching football as well as coaching youth football. He loved playing horseshoes and card games like canasta, cribbage, bridge and spades with family and friends. He was an active and lifelong member of the Elks club in Fort Collins, Colorado as well as a member of the Moose Club in Fort Collins, Colorado and the Eagles Club in McCook, Nebraska. He was an accomplished manager in a creamery in McCook, Nebraska, expert salesman in construction equipment in New Mexico and Colorado, taught heavy equipment classes at Larimer County Vo-Tech and dabbled in Real Estate after getting his real estate license. His accomplishments were vast before following his entrepreneurial dream and path to open his own restoration and sales business for heavy equipment, that he ran with his son, Larry.
Elmer's viewing is scheduled between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. March the 2nd at Bohlender Funeral Chapel and the funeral is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. March the 3rd at Roselawn Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Schneider home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Elmer's life. The family would like to thank the staff at Bohlender Funeral Chapel for their support throughout and Pastor Rick Reiten of Trinity Lutheran Church for his sermon at the funeral.
