Ellis "Jack" H. Betchel, 91, of Fort Collins, died December 7, 2010 at his home. Mr. Betchel was born December 28, 1918 in McMinnville, Tennessee to Harry and Elnora Betchel. Jack married Betty Lucille Douglass, whom he loved dearly on July 27, 1940 in Kimball, Nebraska. They had been married for 69 years when she passed away September 22, 2009. Mr. Betchel lived in the Wellington/ Fort Collins area most of his life. He was a carpenter by trade. Jack served in the US Army in WWII in France and Germany. He was an avid wood carver. He enjoyed spending time in his wood shop everyday and then passing along his carvings to his friends and family. He and his father built furniture and cabinets. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp until he was no longer able. Survivors include his daughter, Karen David Ramirez. Preceding Jack in death are his wife, parents and son, Kenneth Betchel; infant daughter, Sharon Kay Betchel, and infant brother, Leslie Betchel.
