Ella Louise Welty

Ella Louise Welty died at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. She was 93. Born on March 3, 1915 to James and Pearle Lee, she grew up in Arcadia, Neb., a small farming community in the heart of the Heartland of America with her sister and four brothers all of whom are deceased. She married Max E. Welty on July 1, 1949, and the couple moved their young family to Fort Collins in the spring of 1957. A homemaker, "Luigi" enjoyed cooking and gardening and spending time with her family, especially around the holidays. She is survived by her husband, Max, of 59 years; her sons, Dan Parker Fort Collins, and John Welty Portland, Ore.; her daughter-in-law, Maggi Parker; sister-in-law, Doris Gregory and her husband, Paul; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct 10 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 West Olive, Fort Collins. The family requests donations to Hospice of Larimer County in lieu of flowers.
