Elizabeth Niebor

Elizabeth Pritchard Niebor was born in Indianapolis on Oct. 6, 1911, to Carleton Pritchard and Leonna Swails Pritchard. When she was one year old, her family moved to Miami, Fla., and Elizabeth grew up in Florida. She left Florida after she completed high school to attend the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore, Md. Elizabeth graduated as a Registered Nurse from Johns Hopkins in 1934 and continued to pursue some graduate studies. Elizabeth moved to Colorado in 1951 and started working at Poudre Valley Memorial Hospital. In 1954, she married Leroy Niebor and they moved to a farm southeast of Loveland. Mr. Niebor died in 1964; and Elizabeth continued to live on the farm until 1997. Elizabeth found her life on the farm one of the most meaningful things in her life. As a child, Elizabeth had a strong Quaker upbringing. Mrs. Neibor joined the Foothills Unitarian Church in 1951, and was a member since that time. Elizabeth's faith was essential to her life. She was deeply committed to the causes of human and civil rights; and, had a strong commitment to environmental issues. She worked tirelessly on a grassroots level for political and social change. She was a member of the American Friends Service Committee. Elizabeth was also involved in promoting world peace. Elizabeth is survived by one daughter, Donza Anson, from Bradenton, Fla., two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Grandview Cemetery, 1900 W. Mountain Ave., Fort Collins. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Sierra Vista Health Care Center in Loveland.
