Edwin W. Turner of Wellington died July 21, 2013 at Medical Center of the Rockies. He
was 84 yrs old. Edwin was born in Hornell, NY to Wallace Edwin Turner and Viola Louise Kibby on June 16, 1929. Viola died at an early age and Wallace remarried to Lula Payne, she raised Edwin and his sisters, Frances Radwich of Rochester, NY, Wynona Turner, Ellen Burgess Gene of Avon, NY and brother, Edgar Turner Phyllis of Warsaw, NY. Edwin began working for Eastman Kodak at an early age. In 1948 he married his childhood friend Opal Bratcher of Rochester, New York. Edwin joined the air force and was an air policeman of the 93rd air police squadron. He received the national defense service medal and the good conduct medal in England for his four years of service during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge he was rehired at Kodak and worked at the Rochester Facility until 1971. The family moved to Wellington, CO and Edwin was rehired with Kodak in Windsor until he retired in 1986. Upon retiring from Kodak Edwin purchased Rainbow Water Hauling and delivered bulk water until 1995 when Opal had a severe stroke. After Opal's stroke Edwin took care of Opal for twelve years without complaint. Both he and Opal played country music together with their dear friend Virgil Davis and many others. After Opal passed away Edwin formed lasting friendships with all at the Chocolate Rose in Wellington. Edwin is survived by two children John W Turner Deborah of Weldona, CO and Renee Ryterski Steve of Wellington, CO, four grandchildren Kasey Ryterski, John Michael Turner Taryn, Jeanie Boymel Eli, and Conrad Crist Gwen, four great grandchildren and special companion Clarene Bidell. A memorial service with military honors will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Wellington, Colorado. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Bryan Reichert at Miramont Family Medicine for his tender care. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to McKinney Kids at Wellington Junior High, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
