Listen to Obituary
God took a rare breed ... my loving husband, my best friend on March 7, 2008, after a lengthy battle with leukemia. He will be missed by many and never forgotten. Edward Monroe Wilson was born Sept. 25, 1940, in Gillette, Wyo., to Charlie and Mary Wilson. Edward served in the navy for four years. He married Lois Marie Thomas on Dec. 20, 1979, in Las Veagas, Nev. Mr. Wilson lived the past 25 years in Laporte and retired in September 2006 as a supervisor for Larimer County Road and Bridge. Edward loved yard work and looking at the Rocky Mountains. He enjoyed trips to Blackhawk and loved to operate heavy equipment. Survivors include his wife, Lois Marie Wilson; a son, Phillip D. Thomas; two daughters, Christy Ann Paxton and her husband, Jim Paxton all of LaPorte, and Cammy Hammond and her husband, Dave, of Fort Collins; two brothers, Everett Wilson and his wife, Marion, and Floyd Wilson and his wife, Brenda, all of Lander, Wyo.; a sister, Connie Helmer of Cheyenne, Wyo., eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding Edward in death are his parents; sisters, Viola Calvert, Betty Harvard; and brothers, Wade Wilson, Fred Wilson and Phillip Wilson. The family would especially like to thank Carol McKee and Hospice of Larimer County. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, with military honors by the Fort Collins All Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. W. Donald Fike will officiate at the service. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice of Larimer County in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.bohlenderfuneralchapel.com .
