We are celebrating the phenomenal life of Edward (Ed) R. Van Valkenburg, July 30, 1922 – February 16, 2016. Ed is a true Colorado Pioneer and native. As a father, Granddad, and Great Granddad, one of Ed's favorite ways to spend time was with the entire family having home cooked meals in his yard under the big cottonwood trees.
His parents and 2 of his sisters preceded Ed, although he is survived by many more in his family: his 5 children, AnnaDee, Richard, Don, Susan and Cindy. Ed has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and all were taught the value of family by the eminent presence of Ed. Ed loved them all.
Growing up on a ranch, Ed loved spending time outdoors. Ed was a World War II veteran who eagerly enlisted into the Navy but was needed and served in the Marines. He was happy and honored to serve his country. He continued to serve his community by working as a rancher and in construction.
Ed was at home when the angels called him and he went peacefully, just the way he wanted. He will be greatly missed and continually loved by all, as he will continue to be our guardian angel.
Our family wants to thank Halcyon Hospice and First Light for Ed's care in his last month. You are truly Angels here on earth.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Bellvue Grange, Bellvue.
