Edward M. Mestas

Edward M. Mestas, 79, of Ft. Collins, died August 31, 2013 at his residence. Edward was born May 13, 1934 in Ft. Collins to Joseph O. Mestas and Georgia L. Gonzales Mestas. Edward graduated from Ft. Collins High School in 1954 where he enjoyed playing the trumpet. He graduated from Colorado State University in 1963. Edward served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Hilda C. Perez on August 6, 1960 in Ft. Collins. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office and a supervisor at McDonnell Aircraft. Edward was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and loved to play golf. Survivors include his wife, Hilda of Ft. Collins; four sons, Michael Mestas of Greeley, Thomas Mestas Tricia of Denver, Robert Mestas of Cheyenne, John Mestas Kimber of Loveland; a brother, Joseph Mestas of Windsor; two sisters, Linda Swegarden of Loveland and Frances Curry of Ft. Collins, and six grandchildren, Keegan, Karlie, Kadin, Laura, Brendan, and Justin. Preceding Edward in death are his parents, two brothers, Sam and Tom. The family would like to thank Dr. Broman; his nurse, Lucy, and Pathways Hospice for their tender care. A Rosary will be held Monday, 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. Both services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment with Military Honors by the Ft. Collins All Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft.
