Edward L. Maynard, Jr., 88, of Fort Collins, died April 16, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Maynard was born May 10, 1921 in Ashland, Ky., to Edward L. Maynard, Sr. and Elizabeth D. Stewart Maynard. Edward was raised in the Tampa, Fla. area. Edward married Arleene K. Millage on August 14, 1945 in Base Chapel, Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Ill. Mr. Maynard served 23 years as a pilot and flight instructor and retired as a Major from the United States Air Force. Edward served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was also a pilot for eight years with a charter airliner. Edward enjoyed geneology, reading, travel, and was a member of the "No Sweat Club." Survivors include his sons, Greg Maynard of Fort Collins, and Edward Maynard, III and his wife, Kathrey of Loveland; a daughter, Kay LaVerne Maynard Romero and her husband Joe of Colorado Springs; two brothers, J.B. Maynard of Land of Lakes, Fla., and John Stewart Maynard of Orange Park, Fla.; a sister, Naomi Fox of Washington State; three grandchildren, Dave and Jeff Romero, and Adrienne Maynard, four great-grandchildren, Kaela, Tyler, Bryce, and Carsyn Romero. Preceding Edward in death are his parents, wife; three sisters, Fay Ozenghar, Della Maynard, and Jesse Maynard, and two brothers, William and Frank Maynard. A Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
