Edgar R. (Smokey) Krieger, 86 years old, of Fort Collins, passed to his resting place on Monday, the 26th of September, 2016 at Spring Creek Home Health Care in Fort Collins. He had recently moved from his long time residence on Remington Street.
Mr. Krieger was born on the Island of Maui, August 15, 1930. He was the son of the late Florence Ripple Krieger. With the exception of time served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he lived in the Livermore/Fort Collins area until he died.
Mr. Krieger, upon arriving in Colorado from Maui, spent most of his early life helping his family operate their immense Angus cattle ranch. It encompassed twenty-seven thousand acres, near Owl Canyon, upper Cherokee Park in Colorado and, Granite Canyon in Wyoming. Smokey, as he was known to most, also had a great love for quarter horses and many top roping mounts were trained by him. In his free time, he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and big game guide.
On September 27, 1958 he married Linda Webster in Greeley Colorado. Linda preceded him in death on June 15, 2007. Also preceding him in death is a daughter, Sherry Ann Krieger, and a sister, Florence Krieger.
Surviving relatives are a son, Kirt Krieger of Fort Collins; a daughter, Kelley Reid of Hunter, NY;
and a granddaughter, Jessica Dixon, of Hudson, NY.
At his request, there will not be a memorial service held for him.
