Earl, 92, known to many as "Bucky" passed away June 16, 2026 surrounded by family. He was born June 13, 1934 to Earl and Violet Buckendorf.
Earl joined the Navy in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1960. Earl was on the ship, the General Butler. Earl was stationed in Germany for 2 years and ported throughout the Mediterranean Sea and then Earl was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as Harbor Police. He moved to Cuba for a year after being discharged. He lived in Arizona for a short time. After coming back to Ft. Collins, Earl worked for Cedar Plastics, 30 years at Poudre Valley News, Hewlett-Packard, and Albertson's before retiring.
Earl met Carmen Trujillo at Clancy's. They married in 1956 and later divorced but remained good friends.
Earl is survived by his daughters Debbie Baker (Bill), Yvonne Snead, Monica Culbertson, Vicky Masters, and Janet Buckendorf (Embert Valdez), 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, 5 great-great--grandchildren on the way; a sister Marilyn Baird (Bill), and Gary Trujillo, who was more like a son than a nephew.
Preceding Earl in death is his great-granddaughter Natasha Cordova; former spouse Carmen; his parents; a brother Don Buckendorf, and a nephew Eddie "Cocco" Trujillo.
Earl loved to dance. Thank you to Heather from Seniors Helping Seniors, who got him up dancing again.
A celebration of Earl's life (potluck) will be held at the American Legion George Beach Post#4 in Laporte, CO on Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 2-5 pm.
