Dudley E. Friday, 90, of LaPorte, died Aug. 25, 2007. He was born on Nov. 30, 1916, in Sabine Parish, La. Drafted into the Army in 1942, Dudley was soon accepted into the Aviation Cadet Program. This began his life-long career in the United Sates Air Force. During World War II, Dudley was stationed in England, where he flew 31 missions with the B-24 group of the 8th Air Force, 2nd Air Division. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, four air medals, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and numerous other awards. Dudley retired in 1966 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After his military career, he enjoyed working at the CSU Weather Research Center. Dudley is survived by his wife, Doris; his daughter, Barbara Pearson and her husband Warren; his daughter, Cheryl von Kaenel and her husband Von; his four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and his one remaining brother, Eddy Friday, who resides in Dryprong, La. Dudley will be buried with full military honors at a private family ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
