Dorothy Grace McCartney passed away May 26, 2006, at the Centre Rehabilitation Center. She was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Fort Collins and had resided in LaPorte for 60 years. She is survived by daughter, Patricia Jim Wiebelhaus of Fort Collins, Linda Wilson of Fort Collins, Elaine Halderman of York, Neb., Claudia Bill Bartlett of Saratoga, Wyo.; son, Daniel Jennifer McCartney of Fairbanks, Alaska; and stepson-in-law, Vernon Ardith Thompson of Sidney, Neb. She was also survived by her good friend and niece, Jackie Bill Selburg of Fort Collins, 13 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Dorothy graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1936, followed by two years of business school. She retired from the postal service after 25 years of service. Dorothy had an active life and enjoyed association with many wonderful people, including, those at the Bellvue Grange, her pinochle club, pioneers club, and neighbors. She enjoyed cooking and liked trying out new recipes on family and friends. She had made many quilts over her lifetime and was working on one at the time of her death. Other hobbies she enjoyed were ceramics and traveling with family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Gertrude Kuhn; brothers, Bob and Harry Kuhn and sister-in-law Shirley Kuhn; husbands, C. Patrick McCartney divorced and Leslie H. McCartney; stepdaughter, Juleen Thompson and her son, Roger Thompson; son-in-law, Jim Wilson; grandson, Dean Halderman; and two great-grandchildren, Kevin and John Sanderson. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, followed by cremation. The family invites her friends to join them for a reception at the Bellvue Grange following the service. Mr. Marty Trujillo will officiate at the funeral service. Those who desire may view Dorothy from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m Tuesday and Wednesday at the Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
