Dorothy Jean Long, 86, of Fort Collins passed away Aug. 30, 2007. She was born Aug. 15, 1921, in Colorado Springs. She was raised in the Fort Collins-Wellington area, graduated from Fort Collins High School and attended Colorado Women's College. Dorothy worked for the city of Fort Collins and then worked in retail for many years. She married Russell Long on March 8, 1960. Dorothy was a friend to all and "Grandma" to many. She will be remembered for her kind heart and giving nature. Dorothy was an icon at the Ever Open Caf ¬, spending many free hours helping out and meeting and conversing with friends and acquaintances. She loved animals, enjoyed the outdoors and crafting. She bowled for many years on city leagues and loved to play bingo. She is survived by her son, David, and his wife Norma Long; grandchildren, Steve Long and Kelly Sellmer, all of Fort Collins; stepson, Mike, and wife Jan Long; grandchildren, Dawn Navarrette and Kim Lloyd; and six great-grandchildren, all from Phoenix, Ariz. She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell; son, Ray Hansen; and parents, Herman and Laura Mae Meyer. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Those who desire may view Mrs. Long from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
