Dorothy E. Johnson, 90, of Fort Collins, died Aug. 28, 2005, at Poudre Valley Hospital. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Graveside services and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Holyoke Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Children's Clinic in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524. Dorothy Eloise Dorman was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Unadilla, Neb. She was raised on the family farm by her parents, Charles W. and Anne T. Dorman. She attended the Paisley School near the Dorman farm and later taught elementary students at that school. She married Gordy E. Johnson on Feb. 4, 1944, in Crowell, Texas, and to this union were born Charles Gordon and Elizabeth Ann. The family moved from eastern Nebraska to Holyoke in the summer of 1954, where they purchased a wheat farm. Dorothy continued her teaching career in the Holyoke Public School as elementary music instructor. After the untimely death of her husband in 1964, she moved to Greeley where she and daughter Liz both attended the University of Northern Colorado. She obtained her bachelor's degree in music and taught in the Poudre School District in Fort Collins for 14 years. After her retirement she enjoyed working at the Satin Filly Boutique, where she designed and created fashions. She was active in many local organizations in the Fort Collins area. She loved playing bridge and doing crossword puzzles. In addition to her husband, Gordy, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Arthur. She is survived by her daughter, Liz and husband, Len Minkel, of Longmont; son, Charles and wife, Barbara, of Akron; granddaughter, Teresa Traxler and husband, Corey; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Justin, also of Akron; grandson, Gordon Johnson of Brighton; and great-grandchildren Kendra and Koral.
