Dorothy E. Bass Bachman was born in Clay County, Ill., to Bertha and Lewis Golden. She passed away from this life at the age of 85 on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at the Spring Creek Nursing Facility in Fort Collins. Dorothy married Norton A. Bass in 1940. They lived most of their married life in the Laporte and Waverly areas. Norton Bass preceded her in death in 1970. They had been married almost 30 years. Survived are their six children and their spouses, Edward Bass and wife Sandy, Shirley Steinbock and husband Brent, Bud Bass and wife Karla, Kathy Rogers and husband Thad, Jim Bass and wife Arta Mae, Carolyn Kitzmiller and husband Tom. In addition are 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, two sisters Patricia Patty Fitzgerald, and Wanda Wannie Cox and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by second husband, Wallace Bachman in 1980 and two sisters, Evelyn and Vera. Dorothy was a homemaker who loved doing for others. She loved baking and making gifts for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family before her health started to decline. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 from 2 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday Sept. 26, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Bohlender Funeral Chapel at 121 West Olive Street in Fort Collins. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Dorothy Bachman Memorial Fund, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
