Dorothy Irene Toni Asmus died at home August 28, 2013. Toni was born the youngest of nine children to Jacob and Eva Elizabeth Brug Wagner in Fort Collins, on the first of February 1929. Jacob and Eva were German Russian immigrants who arrived in the United States in 1910. Toni graduated from Fort Collins High School with the class of '47. She was married by Reverend William Strauch "Uncle Willie" to Harold Asmus on May 20, 1951. Toni and Harold had two sons, Mike and Mark. Toni was a bookkeeper for the family business for many years. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid bowler. Toni loved to cook, hosting many luncheons and dinners for family and friends. Toni was an accomplished quilter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; and eight siblings: Eva Morton, Molly Griffy, Esther "Cookie" Krug, Jake Wagner, Alexander "Sandy" Wagner, John Wagner, Ed Wagner, and Helen Woodard. Toni is survived by her sons, Michael J. Asmus Julie of Fort Collins and Dr. Mark Asmus DVM of Grand Junction. Also surviving are granddaughters, Carrie Moline Brian and Heather Valdes Adam. Toni was blessed with four great grandchildren who also survive: Caleb, Emily and Matt Moline and Allie Valdes. Toni will be missed by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and several cousins. There will be a service to remember Toni at Plymouth Congregational Church at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, with a reception at the church immediately after the service. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery following the reception. In lieu of flowers, the Asmus family requests donations to the Colorado State University Canine and Feline Intestinal Disease Fund in support of Dr. David Twedt's research.
