A woman of elegance, grit, and grace. Doris June Emery made her final transition peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2008. She was born to Russian German immigrant parents, Jake and Molly Rottenburg Schild on June 11, 1924. Doris was raised with her brother, Gordon; and sister, Geraldine in a small house in the country where the Pulse Health Club is now located. As a child, she helped her parents in the beet fields in the summer and attended the two-room Pleasant Valley school in the fall. After graduating from Fort Collins High School, Doris married her high school sweetheart, Clyde Henry Greenwood, and to this union was born their son, Clyde Robert Greenwood. Her husband, Clyde, passed away suddenly in 1948. In 1952, Doris met a young man, Arnold Emery, and his children, John and Marcia. Soon, they were married and they became a family of five. Doris and Arnold were blessed with a son, Mark, and the family was complete. Doris was an immaculate housekeeper, busy mother, and conscientious homemaker. Her children came home from school every Tuesday to the heavenly aroma of homemade bread and noodles. She was an excellent cook and gardener, canning hundreds of jars of fruits and vegetables each year. An accomplished needlework artist, Doris created many beautiful quilts, knitted and crocheted clothing and blankets and skillfully embroidered tablecloths. Outside of her home, Doris was an award-winning ballroom dance roller skater and championship bowler. She was an active member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church and the Women's Altar Guild, St. Monica's, Mary's Closet, and helped organize and run the well-known St. Joseph's Christmas Bazaar. She was also very involved with Women of the Moose for many years. Doris leaves for awhile, many lifelong friends who will always lover her for her loyalty, creativity and laughter. Her family is who they are today, because of her courage, beauty, love, and blessed stubbornness. We all love our Grandma Doris and look forward to when we will see her again. Survivors include sons, Clyde Tinka Greenwood and Mark Suyi Emery of Fort Collins, John Lana Emery of Oregon, and Marcia Gene Frey of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Christine John Ginnity of Windsor, Bill Bernadette Greenwood of Livermore, Elliot Ross and Emma Emery of Fort Collins, Lisa Joe Abraham of Oregon, Brent Amie Emery of Oregon, Bryan Megan Frey of Pennsylvania, Laura Jordan Rogrove of New York, Sean Frey of Pennsylvania, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
