Listen to Obituary
Dorcas Morgan Murray, 83, of Fort Collins, Colorado, died July 8, 2018 with her daughters at her side. Dorcas was born on Oct. 23, 1934 in Washington, D.C. to William E. and Lilla B. Morgan. The family moved to Fort Collins in 1949; Dorcas graduated from Fort Collins High in 1952 and from the University of Colorado, where she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, in 1956.

Dorcas spent her early career as a TWA airline hostess based in San Francisco and flying to New York City before marrying John Piper Murray on September 5, 1959 in Fort Collins. Dorcas and John spent many happy years together living in New York, Maryland and Colorado, traveling the globe, and entertaining friends and family. She enjoyed people, places, and things, especially family, good friends, conversation, good food, and good libations -- all of which she found throughout a good life.

Dorcas is survived by her daughter, Laura Murray of Colorado Springs; daughter, Carol Cochran and her husband, Tim, of Fort Collins; grandchildren, Bill and Shane Laycock of Colorado Springs, Tatum and Trina Cochran of Fort Collins; her brother, Bryan Morgan of Boulder; and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering to celebrate Dorcas will be held at a later date. Contributions in her name may be made to the Lilla Bryan Morgan Scholarship Endowment or the Morgan Library Endowment, c/o CSU Foundation, P.O. Box 1870, 510 University Services Center, 601 S. Howes St., Fort Collins, CO 80523-7112.
