Listen to Obituary
Donice Lorraine Lilley was born June 28, 1933 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado to William J and Bess (Edwards) Logan. The Logans and Edwards were among the earliest settlers in The Virginia Dale area and Donice grew up on this historic ranch.

She attended the Virginia Dale country school through eighth grade and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1951. She lived with retired grandma and grandpa Edwards during the week and went back to the ranch on the weekends

She went to college for six months then married.

Her second marriage to Cecil Whitney lasted for 24 years and with their two sons, Joe and Jim Whitney they were very active in Little Branch Rodeo

She worked for most of her life doing data entry (key punching) several places, the photo lab at CSU, a grocery store and a Western Store. She retired in 1997 from theForest Service.

Donice had become inactive in the Lutheran church she joined when in high school. Toward the end of her failing second marriage she went to a wonderful Christian councilor who introduced her to Christ in a personal way

She remained single for several years and then married Roy W. Lilley in 1997. He had been a frequent partner at country dances when they were in their teens.

She always loved animals and music and is looking forwarded to seeing the many wonderful dogs she has had in heaven

Survivors include son Jim, son Joe and Daughter in law Dianne, their children Grandson Joseph, Grand daughter Jessica, Nephews George Logan and his wife Cindy, Robert Logan, niece Donna and grand niece Sorcha. Her brother William Logan and niece Joyce preceded her in death: Roy and his family which include: Daughter Elizabeth Askin and Husband Dave who have, twin siblings Kristina and Nickolas; daughter Shaun Heitz who has three children, Sarah, Katlyn and Seth; daughter Jennifer Applequist and husband Trip who have a daughter, Trilby and a son Braxton; and son Brendan. Roy's granddaughter Sarah Lilley-Gitch has four children, daughters Grace and Lydia and sons Silas and Simeon.

Donice was loved and respected by people from many walks of life whether they knew her as Donice or Donnie.
